Choosing step parts: the complete guide

Step parts replacement is easier than you think. Here's everything you need to know about the most common parts:

Replacing wheels
Wheels are the part that wears out the fastest. Signs that your wheels need replacing:
- Flat spots caused by slides and braking
- Visible wear to the urethane
- The scooter vibrates more than usual
Choose wheels that fit your scooter and riding style in terms of size (100mm, 110mm, 120mm) and hardness (85-88A).

Handlebar (bar) upgrade
- T-bar: The standard with most stuntsteps - light and affordable
- Y-bar: Firmer due to the extra weld, popular with advanced users
- Steel vs aluminium: Steel is sturdier for hard tricks, aluminium is lighter
- Size: Width (usually 50-58cm) and height should fit your body

Replacing grips
Worn grips give less control. New grips are easy to fit with some hairspray or grip glue. Choose grips that are comfortable in your hand and offer good grip.

Brake (fender brake)
The rear brake wears out over time. A worn brake brakes less effectively and can damage the rear wheel. Replace the brake as soon as it is worn down to the metal.

Headset and bearings
- Headset: The bearing used to turn the handlebars. Backlash or grinding? Replace it!
- Wheel bearings: Upgrade to ABEC-9 or ABEC-11 for faster and smoother rolling
- Fork (fork): Connects the front wheel to the headset. If bent or damaged, replace immediately.

Griptape
Griptape on deck wears out over time and loses grip. Easy to replace yourself - remove the old tape, clean the deck and stick new grip tape.

Frequently asked questions about scooter parts

Check the current wheel size of your scooter (usually marked on the wheel itself: 100mm, 110mm or 120mm). Choose the same size for direct replacement. Also note the axle diameter: most stunt scooters use a standard 8mm axle. If in doubt, send us a picture via WhatsApp!

Yes, most parts are easy to replace yourself with standard tools (Allen spanners). Changing wheels takes 5 minutes, replacing grips slightly longer. For headset replacement, you will need a headset press - or bring your scooter to our showroom in Mijdrecht.

Replace your wheels when there are visible flat spots, deep grooves in the urethane, or when the core (core) becomes visible. With intensive daily use in the skatepark, wheels last 2-4 months on average. In recreational use, much longer.

Many stunt scooter parts are universal. Wheels with standard 8mm axle fit almost all stunt scooters. Handlebars, forks and headsets may differ from brand to brand. Check the specifications or ask us - we are happy to help you with compatibility.

ABEC-9 bearings are more precisely made than ABEC-7 and therefore roll smoother and faster. For stuntsteps, you mainly notice the difference in speed and roll-out. ABEC-9 is the most popular choice for stuntsteps. ABEC-11 is even more precise but the difference with ABEC-9 is minimal.
