Frequently asked questions about work gloves
OXXA offers several cut-resistant series. The X-Cut series has models from level A3 to A9. For most applications (glass, metal, cardboard) A3-A5 is sufficient. For heavy cutting work with sharp materials, choose A6 or higher. The cut-resistant gloves are made of HPPE/Dyneema® fibres that are 15x stronger than steel by weight.
Measure the circumference of your palm (without thumb) in centimetres. This is your glove size: 18-19cm = size 7 (S), 20-21cm = size 8 (M), 22-23cm = size 9 (L), 24-25cm = size 10 (XL). If in doubt between two sizes, choose the larger one for more comfort. Gloves that are too tight fatigue your hands faster.
EN 388:2016 is the European standard for protective gloves against mechanical hazards. The numbers indicate: abrasion resistance (1-4, number of abrasion cycles), cut resistance (A1-A9, Newton force), tear strength (1-4, Newton), puncture resistance (1-4, Newton). An "X" means not tested. Higher numbers = more protection. Please note that the cut resistance standard changed from 1-5 to A1-A9 in 2016.
Yes! OXXA has special winter work gloves with Thinsulate™ or fleece lining. These combine warmth with work protection. The Cold Grip range is suitable down to -30°C. For less extreme cold, there are gloves with light insulation that offer more dexterity. Check the temperature rating in the product description.
Nitrile coating is oil-resistant, more durable and gives better grip in wet/oily materials - ideal for automotive and industrial applications. PU (polyurethane) coating is thinner, more flexible and gives better tactile grip - perfect for precision work and electronics. Nitrile is better for heavy-duty jobs, PU for fine work. Both are latex-free.
