Frequently asked questions about skating & boarding
For 3-year-olds, a tricycle scooter or roller skates are the best choice. Both offer great stability. A scooter is the easiest to learn - most children get the hang of it within an hour. Roller skates are more fun if your child also wants to learn to "skate". Skeelers and skateboards we save for when your child is 5+.
Minimum knee, elbow and wrist guards. For skateboarding and stuntsteps, a helmet is compulsory, for rollerblading strongly recommended. The Champz protective sets contain all three protectors and match the colour of the inline skates - your child will really want to wear them!
Stepping is by far the easiest - most children can do it immediately. Skeeling requires more balance and 3-5 practice sessions. Skateboarding is the most challenging. My tip: start stepping, then rollerblading, then skateboarding. That way your child builds balance step by step.
With a stunt scooter, children can go to the skate park from 6-7 years old. With a skateboard or rollerblades preferably from 7-8 years, when balance and coordination are better developed. Always go with them the first few times and make sure you have full protection!
Yes! Champz rollerblades and skates are adjustable in 4 sizes - they last 2-3 seasons. Kids" scooters often have adjustable handlebars. Skateboards do not grow with you, but an 8" board is suitable for a wide age range. Guard sets have adjustable straps.
